How to use Sketchup Asset Importer Extension

A23D Sketchup Asset Importer Extension provides a one-click import functionality for 3D models into Sketchup without losing any data. You can easily access this plugin from File > Import A23D Assets.

This guide shows how to download, install and use this addon. Follow these steps to download the add-on, properly install it in your Sketchup application and use it to import assets.

It's worth noting that SketchUp may encounter inefficiencies when interpreting the contemporary topology of 3D meshes, potentially leading to issues with accurately displaying texture maps on surfaces.

Downloading the plugin

Visit our Plugins page using this link and download the latest version of the plugin compatible with your installed Sketchup version.

Installing the plugin

  1. Unzip the downloaded plugin file. image
  2. Launch SketchUp and navigate to the Extensions Manager. image
  3. Click on 'Install Extension' and locate the unzipped .rbz file and select 'Open' to install the plugin.. image
  4. Enable extension using the blue toggle button. If the extension does not show up after installing, please restart Sketchup. image

Using the plugin

  1. Go to the File menu located in the top left corner of SketchUp and select Import A23D Assets. image
  2. Locate the A23D Asset folder which you want to import. Select the A23DMOD.fbx file and click open. image
  3. Wait for the plugin to process the asset. This may take a few moments depending on the size of the model. image
  4. The assets will then be imported into your Sketchup scene. image
