Free Online 3D Model Viewer

Open FBX, GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, USDZ, Collada and 17 more formats straight in your browser. Inspect the scene, play animations, convert between formats — without uploading anything.

Everything runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone else.

Supported formats

Every format below opens in the viewer above. Each also has its own page with format-specific guidance.

Built to respect your files

Most online model viewers upload your work to a server you know nothing about.
This one never does.

Nothing leaves your browser

Files are read with the local File API and drawn by your own GPU. There is no upload step, no server-side copy, and no retention policy to read — because there is nothing to retain.

Real inspection, not just a preview

Walk the scene hierarchy, select individual meshes, read triangle and vertex counts, count materials and textures, and check bounding-box dimensions against the units you expect.

Convert while you are here

Load any supported format and download it as GLB, OBJ, STL, PLY or USDZ. The conversion runs locally too, so a confidential model stays confidential.

Frequently asked questions

How the viewer works, and what it can and cannot open.

Are my 3D files uploaded anywhere?

No. The viewer uses your browser File API to read the file directly from disk and renders it with WebGL on your own graphics card. Nothing is sent to A23D. You can confirm this by opening your browser network tab while loading a model — there are no upload requests.

Which 3D file formats can I open?

GLB, glTF, FBX, OBJ, STL, PLY, Collada (DAE), 3DS, 3MF, AMF, VRML, USD, USDA, USDC, USDZ, KMZ, LightWave LWO, MagicaVoxel VOX, PCD, XYZ, VTK and G-code. Every format opens in the same viewer, so you can drop any of them onto any page here.

How do I view a model whose textures are separate files?

Drop the entire folder onto the viewer instead of the single model file, or zip the folder and drop the .zip. The viewer builds a virtual file map so relative texture and .mtl references resolve correctly. This matters most for OBJ and for glTF with an external .bin.

Can I change the lighting?

Yes. The lighting panel offers five A23D HDRI environments — Showroom, Studio, Interior, Urban and Nature — plus two lightweight built-in studio setups and an off switch. You can rotate the environment a full 360 degrees and adjust its intensity, which is the quickest way to move a highlight across a curved metal surface and see a chrome or polished finish properly. The HDRI files are only downloaded if you actually pick one.

Does the viewer play animations?

Yes, where the file contains them. FBX, GLB, glTF and Collada can all carry animation, and a timeline appears below the model with a clip selector, play and pause, scrubbing and playback speed from 0.25x to 2x. Skeletal animation and morph targets both play back. Formats such as STL and OBJ have no concept of animation, so nothing appears for those.

How do I check a model from a specific angle or measure it?

The axis gizmo in the bottom-left corner snaps the camera to front, back, left, right, top or bottom with one click, and there is an orthographic toggle for true parallel views of the kind CAD work expects. You can also switch to wireframe or normals shading, toggle the grid, and read the bounding box in millimetres, centimetres, metres or inches. A screenshot button saves the current view as a PNG.

Is there a file size limit?

Files past 100 MB show a warning, and anything over 300 MB is declined — parsing a file that large would very likely exhaust the browser tab, and a clear refusal beats a frozen page. Archives are also capped while unpacking. Very dense scenes above a few million triangles will navigate less smoothly, particularly on mobile.

Why will my Draco-compressed GLB not open?

Draco is an optional mesh compression extension for glTF that requires a separate decoder this viewer does not yet load. Re-export the model without Draco compression and it will open normally. The viewer tells you explicitly when this is the cause rather than failing silently.

Do I need an account?

No. The viewer is free and requires no sign-up, no plugin and no installation. An A23D account is only needed if you want to download assets from our library.
