How to use A23D 3D Models in Lumion

This guide explains how to import 3D models downloaded from A23D into Lumion for use in visualization projects.

1. Download and Extract the Model

  1. Sign in to your A23D account.
  2. Browse to the asset you wish to use.
  3. In the Software dropdown on the asset page, select Lumion.
    • A23D automatically delivers the model in the format best suited to Lumion (.fbx) - no manual format selection required. Keep the .fbx file and texture files together because the model references its dependent files.
  4. Save the downloaded .zip file to a known location on your computer.
  5. Extract (unzip) the file to access the .fbx model.

2. Import the A23D Model

  1. In Lumion, open your project and enter Build Mode.
  2. In the left-hand menu, open the Content Library.
  3. Select Imported Models and click the Place button.
  4. In the Imported Model Library, click Import New Model.
  5. Navigate to the extracted .fbx file and select it.
  6. Confirm the import and wait for Lumion to process the model.

3. Materials and Textures

A23D 3D models come with embedded PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures. When you import an A23D model, all materials are automatically created and assigned to the imported object.

To modify materials if needed, access Lumion's material editor and adjust properties such as color, metallic values, and roughness to suit your visualization.
