How to use A23D 3D Models in Twinmotion
This guide explains how to import 3D models downloaded from A23D into Twinmotion for real-time visualization and presentation projects.
1. Download and Extract the Model
- Sign in to your A23D account.
- Browse to the asset you wish to use.
- In the Software dropdown on the asset page, select Twinmotion.
- A23D automatically delivers the model in the format best suited to Twinmotion (
.gltf) - no manual format selection required. .fbxis also supported as a fallback if your workflow standardizes on FBX.
- A23D automatically delivers the model in the format best suited to Twinmotion (
- Save the downloaded
.zipto a known location. - Extract (unzip) the archive to access the
.gltf(or.glb) model.
2. Import the A23D Model
- Open Twinmotion and either create a new project or open an existing one.
- Click the Import button in the lower-left corner of the interface (the import icon).
- In the Import dialog, click Open and navigate to the extracted
.gltf/.glbfile. - Configure the import options:
- Import materials and textures: leave enabled so the embedded PBR maps come in automatically.
- Scene units: match your project units (Twinmotion projects are typically meters).
- Up axis: confirm the model arrives upright (Y-up is standard for glTF).
- Click Import and Twinmotion processes the model into the scene.
3. Materials and Textures
A23D 3D models include PBR materials (Base Color, Normal, Roughness, Metallic, AO, and where applicable Opacity / Emissive). Once imported, Twinmotion creates the corresponding materials automatically and assigns them to the model.
To inspect or modify materials:
- Click the Materials icon at the bottom of the Twinmotion window to open the Materials dock — every material in the scene appears as a thumbnail.
- Use the eyedropper / picker at the top of the viewport to select a surface, or click a material thumbnail directly.
- In the right-hand Properties panel, fine-tune:
- Color (Base Color)
- Roughness (set to 50% to use the imported roughness map unchanged — Twinmotion's default 100% will multiply on top)
- Metallic
- Normal
- AO
- Parallax (Height)
- Opacity and Glow (if needed)
All changes update in real time. Twinmotion's renderer fully supports PBR, so the A23D look is preserved in both interactive walkthroughs and final renders.
4. Position, Scale, and Render
- Select the model in the viewport and use the move/rotate/scale gizmo to position it. A23D models are authored in real-world meters and arrive at the correct scale.
- For final output, use Image, Panorama, Video, or Path Tracer rendering — each respects the imported PBR materials.
